Honor Them Foundation,

I just wanted to say Thank You for what you are doing. Jason is still deployed in Afghanistan, but should be back to the US in 66 days. We had been trying to plan something to celebrate his coming home for the past 4 months when I ran across your website. The fact that you are honoring all of our combat veterans and their families by extending a vacation is so heartwarming. Before we were trying to figure out everything, the cost of the vacation, the cost of food, and just the little costs associated with being away from home. Now, we will be able to relax even more knowing that a large portion of the cost will be covered by Honor Them Foundation providing us with the timeshare for the week.

This vacation will give Jason and I a chance to just “be”. It will give us a chance to catch up on a year’s worth of hugs and kisses, a year’s worth of tears, a year’s worth of stolen glances and sweet smiles, and a year’s worth of just being together. The joy that I feel in being able to get away for a week with your help is second only to the fact that he will be home and back in my arms.

Thank you again for what you are doing. It means so much, not only to our Veterans, but to the family members as well.

I donated my week of timeshare to the Honor Them Foundation because I think it's a long needed charity that helps service men and woman and their families have a bit of a break from the reality and stressors of post deployment re-acclimation. Veteran's have done so much for freedom around the world, often times at great sacrifice to themselves and their family, and I felt I was able to allow a military family some personal freedom for themselves.

Dear Fellow American,

You know, the hardest thing about being a soldier wasn’t the training, or risking my life - it was being away from my family. I missed my wife and the long distance relationship was hard on both of us. I missed the birth of my kid and a lot of him growing up. My parents are not in great health and I have missed precious time to enjoy them. I have been home for 6 months now and although it has been great to be home, it was stressful re acclimating to civilian life. My family had a routine that was built around me not being home, money has been tight, and everything feels very disconnected.

Then something wonderful happened. My family received a gift of a week vacation in the Carribean - totally paid for by the kindness of fellow Americans and arranged by the Honor Them Foundation. It was exactly what we needed - the chance to get away from the stresses of daily life, reconnect and have fun. That one week really made a world of difference for us. So I just wanted to say thanks to the foundation and thanks to those who donated in order for me to receive. It’s a wonderful thing, please keep up the good work.

Sincerely,
Staff Sergeant William R.
